The Scalabrinian Sisters of Our Lady of Fatima Province gathered from the 11-14 of July, 2024 at Casa Iskali-Campus of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines, IL, for the Annual Ongoing Formation and the XI Commemorative Provincial Assembly with the theme: “Women Proclaimers of the Good News” and the motto: “A Great Hope Smiles at Us” (Mother Assunta Marchetti).
The Ongoing Formation was led by Sr. Elizangela Chaves Dias, mscs, on “Women of the Dawn in the Perspective of the Scalabrinian Charism.” Sr. Elizangela reflected on the Gospel of Matthew 28:1-10 and mentioned many examples of valiant women in the Bible who always shared good news with others. The group of 28 sisters participated actively on that intensive day of formation, sharing their faith and Scalabrinian spirituality.
The following two days, July 13 and 14, we held the XI Provincial Assembly. As mentioned, it was commemorative for the 70th anniversary of the foundation of Our Lady of Fatima Province, the 10th anniversary of the beatification of Blessed Assunta Marchetti, and the 70th and 60th religious anniversaries of Sisters Marilia and Teolide. We celebrated with a special Triduum, the Eucharist with our local parish community at St. Charles Borromeo, and a special lunch in the Fatima Home community. It was a beautiful time together as Scalabrinian Sisters!
